Raeanna and its partners, Canadian-based Clear Blue Technologies and Nuran Wireless, have continued their rollout of massive infrastructure for rural cellphone telephony system across Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa.
The company is currently present in 11 countries bringing more than 2 million people into broadband connectivity, according to inhouse estimates. The countries are Nigeria, Ghana, Guinea, Cameroon, Benin, Cote d’Ivoire, Rwanda, Uganda, Liberia, Sudan and South Sudan with plans to add eight more countries by 2021 through its partnership with the continent’s leading mobile networks such as MTN, Airtel, 9Mobile and Glo.
Raeanna, a Nigerian telecoms infrastructure company, creates affordable voice and data solutions for unconnected communities across Sub-Saharan Africa. In spite of the region’s mobile penetration of 60%, almost half of its people lack access to basic 2G and 3G mobile services. Raeanna is addressing this by helping rural areas with telecoms, power, Wi-Fi services, and security solutions through off-grid power systems from Clear Blue Technologies.
Clear Blue Technologies CEO, Miriam Tuerk, said Raeanna switched to their technology once it discovered that their solar solution was not efficient for the region. “Basically, the statistics for streetlight and solar systems is that 50 percent of them fail; they don’t work properly. Nigeria is a very harsh environment with a lot of dust and dirt, very hot weather, which is difficult for solar systems to work optimally.”
